That's funny. I never knew what it was called until I met an artist a long time ago. I called it an artist stand. Very loudly she replied, "No", its an easel. She kindly did not add one last word. Dummy.

I have a music stand that I bring when my ukulele group performs. I keep referring to it as my tripod.
