Sometimes you get lucky

Happened to find a Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G Lens at the flea for $35.00. It looked pristine but no way to test it; took a chance anyway. Works great! Every once in a while you get lucky.

I recently bought that lens for $200 (now on sale for $170) and even at $200 feel it s a bargain. You really hit the jackpot!

To quote Forest Gump: "Life is like a box of chocolates --- you never know what you're gonna get."

It's always nice to get a good deal.

Dumb luck, actually. I wasn't even looking for a lens. I will be the next time, however.

I'd say the price was about right, considering it was a non-returnable flea market lens. One must consider the risk factor - how much money one is willing to lose if it turns out the lens doesn't work properly.

Generally, I only buy manual lenses at flea markets because one can easily determine their working condition on the spot without a camera on hand. And those you will often find under $20. Sometimes for as little as $5.

You should have talked them down to $30.

Great find.

In my experience when you start looking you never find, it seems like it always happens when your not looking.

I bought the 50mm f/1.8 version of your lens for near $200 from B&H. Now I regret not getting the 35mm that you have. You got a very good deal. Enjoy.

Clearly, I must not go to the right fleamarkets or garage sales. Looks like you found a great one.

Great purchase. I have found good deals at garage sales but very very seldom.

At the flea markets around here that lens would probably have been $200. I stopped going to flea markets several years ago. All I saw was a bunch of cheap Chinese knockoffs of nearly anything you could imagine.
