As a rule, I buy from one of the big outlets, like B&H, Adorama, or other out of State company. The Canon Store, charges sales tax, and shipping sometimes. I know the argument about supporting the local stores, but Louisiana has just raised it sales tax, and in my Parish it has reached 11%. The deal offered by one of Hoggers sound good. I'd get some more info on that. Since the new SL2 will be out, Canon may have stopped production of the SL1, and that is the reason for the sale price. You may also want to compare the newest Rebel, I think the T6. It may only weigh in at only a few oz. over the SL1, but have more bells & Whistles.

I just bought a cankn SL1. 42 street photography in NY had it for 349. Went to best buyand they matched the price. They don't usually match 42 street on photography price, but they did this time.if they don't then go directly to 42 street photo I had a rebel 5ti and this is much lighter I have lenses from the t5i so bought the Body only. Much much lighter and does almost all the same things

I believe I am going to go for it - thanks for all the input. I am planning on sharing my lenses with my wife. Need to keep costs down when I can.
Although I could wait and see what a SL2 has, I don't think I can pass up this price. I would believe that a SL2 (if it actually comes out) will be priced quite a bit higher than this.
Interestingly, although B&H's price of $399 (body only) expired yesterday, Adorama, Hunts and Amazon are still showing the $399 price. Makes me wonder what is going on.
contact 42 street photo and see if their pricing of 349 is still available
