They can put in any caller ID they want and change it often. block one number they just use another. I have gotten several with my name and number as the ID...

Ricardo, you didn't mention if you are using a cell phone or hardwired phone. If a cell phone, just select block through your recent call menu. I don't know how many I have blocked, but I rarely get any annoyance calls anymore. I'm not sure I understand when you stated, "Each caller has a different phone number so blocking won't do anything."

We get calls from an IRS Agent informing us that if we do not call him back we will be under a large penalty. Since when does the IRS call on the phone. All they want is our SS#.

The IRS never calls you via phone to discuss tax issues. They notify you by government mail to outline problems. There is an official phone number in the letter to call them back. State or Federal. They will send another letter if you do not reply. That's the one you don't want to ignore. I got a nasty letter from the State telling me I shorted them $26 in tax payment. I made a mistake on my tax form. Paid them the $26.

I have gotten calls from the IRS the police payday adavance fix my credit free vacations and the list goes on. I have herd that some cell phone companies will sell phone numbers or a computer just starts dileing. I don't know how many reject numbers are in my phone but it's a lot. I don't think there is a way to stop it all. I'm down to about one a month. I just keep adding to my reject call

The FCC has both the resources and the tools to go after these junk call scammers. Sadly, it is infamously indolent. The main federal law banning such trash calls (and junk faxes) is the TCPA. But it was TEN YEARS from enactment of the TCPA before the FCC even began doing even minor investigating...

I am retired so I have plenty of time. Instick my fingerbin my cheek so it sounds likebI have a speech impediment. I ask lots of questions which I have to tepeat several times because they can't understand me. It wastes a lot of their time. When Inbecome bored, I take my finger out of my mouth and tell them I am on the do not call list and stop wasting my time.

I've received over 50 "this is your last chance" phone calls in the last year.

If you answer, you have confirmed that they have reached a "live" number -- so, you should never answer but instead just block the call.

7es, but when I hang up they are then paying for this call and have talked to no one. They will call back 2 or 3 times but I do the same thing and after paying for these calls they never call back. That's all I was trying to get across.

Right, and I'll block that one. As I mentioned, I don't know how many I have blocked at the moment. However, I also don't get as many calls as I used to.

When I had time, I'd listen to their pitch and take as much of their time as possible, showing as much interest as I could, until I finally said that I had decided no.

The worst one was the one that constantly called wanting to lower my interest rates.

Or you could do what this guy did

Very funny!

My cell phone is for on the road emergencies and or "wifie" to call me while I am away from the house-she is disabled or me to call home from town to avoid a 30 mi round trip for something that did not get on my list. If that phone rings anytime I am at home it does not get answered. - If I get a call from anyone else while I am out I chew them out for calling an emergency phone and hang up. I have been getting fewer and fewer calls.

I've heard they are robo calls to find out if the phone number is a true number. When you answer one of these the computer that called you logs it as a good number. Some time later you may get a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS that you owe back taxes and if you don't pay up they will come for for you. I've gotten one of these calls. I ignored it and nothing ever happened. Great scam.

To me ALL robo calls- even sales pitch calls - are scams & I just will not waste any time conversing with the caller.

I get them on my totally unlisted cellphone, they are usually scams. They want you to call back, and if you do, you may get a BIG surprize on your next phone bill unless you are on a prepaid phone. They auto-transfer you to an offshore 900 number that charges anywhere from $10 to $50 for the first minute! My local police chief is a friend, keeps me briefed on the latest scams. If you don't recognize the number, don't ever call back!
