I find Dropbox unintuitive and awkward. Can any recommend a safe and easy to use way to share large photos and slide shows?
WeTransfer is very good and easy to use.
Perfect to send large files, J use it often.
Thanks, I have found that files cannot be deleted from dropbox. I googled many discussions and apparently it can't be done. Showed many suggestions but non worked. I will be glad to get away from dropbox and I guess I will just have to let them keep my precious photos and slide shows. I hate that. Bummer.

I've been using Dropbox for 4 yrs and routinely permanently delete files.
You just have to do it on the Dropbox website, not your computer, and you have to delete twice - first in the folder, then after you select "show deleted files"
Very intuitive, just like deleting from your folder then going in to delete them from the Recycle Bin. It's safe, secure, fast, and very easy to do a number of things, including using it as an intermediary between a desktop computer and Instagram. I use it with my student files - they deposit their raw files in dropbox. I use Lightroom, and set up a watched folder where I can easily view their images.
The best thing is you are not "sending" anything to anyone - you, and others, are simply placing a file in a targeted folder that is automatically shared, etc.
I have looked all over my dropbox website and I can find nothing that offers the opportunity to delete. I have right clicked, left clicked every square inch of my file on that site and can find nothing close to delete. I have never had this problem with any other site so still question dropbox's intuitiveness, but please tell me what I am missing? ](I routine delete from my PC file and routinely clean out the recycle bin, and understand that aspect)
Thanks for your reply!

I have exactly the same problem, Sodapop. Using an Apple IPad with the latest iOS, I go to Dropbox.com and can find no means to delete any photos or files. There has to be a simple answer, but it sure isn't obvious. Do you have to buy the Pro versiin before it will let you delete files?
Simply right-click the file or folder you want to delete. A pop-up menu includes a "Delete" function. Choose the "Delete" choice. The file will show as "deleted" to give you the chance to restore it. Or, if you right-click you can delete it permanently. What could be simpler and safer?

Whew.
I thought it was just me, I've had no complaints over the several years I've been using it. Although I am far from a power user!

I know what you mean. I use it so seldom that I have to start from scratch every time. I also use Google Drive, but I have to figure that out, too. Yesterday, I sent several people a large PDF file using DropBox and Google Drive. MS OneDrive wouldn't accept the file for some reason.
Aside from having to figure out how to use these programs, you must also have someone on the receiving end who knows how to use it.

I have no issue deleting the photos from Dropbox. It is sync'd to the directory in C:/users/.... When I delete from there it goes away online. I move things in and out of Dropbox for people many times. I use it to pass things to UHH members. With only 2.5 gig of space on my side I have to keep it clean. It def works.

Just yesterday I deleted a dozen or so files from Dropbox. Just treat them like any other files in any other folder: Right-click, select 'delete' from the pop-up.
The one caution is to make sure you have the file elsewhere (its own folder, external HD, DVD, etc.), because once you delete them from Dropbox, they're gone!

I was just able to delete from Dropbox (I think). I've only been using Dropbox for a week for three files and two of those were between our own two computers as a test. Worked both ways. I'll have to see if the file just deleted off the Dropbox site stays deleted.
One general observation about issues and problems that only certain users see or have -- and I'd find this unusual for a UHH member -- often if your Video card is set up wrong or has too little VRAM things may be "missing" from especially WEB pages but even installed programs on your computer. It can be annoying since you may not even know you have the problem until someone else talks about their experience with the same page or function.
Thanks for your reply.
I have often wondered about my video card but thankfully PS and LR and Lynda tutorials work just fine. I would not know if or how my card is set up or even how to set it up.. or even if it can be set up or is replaceable. . I do know that is says that it is up to date. It is a AMD Radeon HD 7560D. I have an awful time for instance, going into links like the ones found on Facebook, but that is the least of my worries and probably is another issue separate from the video card. My computer is an HP Compaq Pavilion 500-054, so it is on the low range of computers but is what I can afford. Any comments you may have would be greatly appreciated.

I've used the paid Dropbox account for a couple of years, and am pretty happy with it. When you deleted a file from your desktop, or other device, it is gone in terms of occupying the folder, or taking up space on your computer for all practical purposes. Deleted items is a history of files that were removed, and allows you to restore it for up to 30 days. It does not count against your storage capacity. This feature can be a bacon saver.
