D500 connection problem

Just got the D500 and everything is as advertised except can't connect to my IPad or IPhone. Called and emailed Nikon and emailed me back to check battery fully charged and make sure I am using authorized memory card. Which I did still won't connect. Found on other sites others have the same problem. My authorized local Nikon dealer also tried to get it to connect with same result. It looks like Nikon does not realize they have a problem with the D500. Have any of you had problems with connecting the D500?

Nope, probably because I use it (since yesterday) as a camera (testing it) and I do not use any other gizmo than my PC.

When a camera is new (to the market) the are problems that needs to solved, more on the human side than on the hardware. Meaning that our current expectation (on everything - blame Microsoft) is that we just need to plug and play (err pray).

Do a bit of reading of the manual. I am sure you will have a 'Ah! Ah!' moment.

the only thing I can add is , do you have Nikon WMU on your phone? I'll assume you do because you called Nikon.
Good luck... keep us posted

My local dealer finally got Nikon to respond. The D500 is at this time does not work on Apple. Apple has the old version of Nikon WMU that does not have Snapbridge. Nikon confirmed there is nothing about this in the manual or any other of their announcements. They say that this will be fixed this summer when their next update comes out.

It requires the Snapbridge app, which is available for Android devices now, but not available for iOS devices until this summer. The older WMU, which works for D7200 and other models, will not work with the D500. There was documentation in the box that explains this, and your Nikon dealer should have known this. Also, it's literally one google search away.

No problems connecting D500 and Galaxy S7. It takes a bit for the connection to complete, but once it's up everything works great.

Same here, no problem connecting to a Galaxy S6. Did take a couple of tries but worked fine. Will not work with IOS until they come out with a Snapbridge for Apple.

All over the Nikon site: No iPhone or iPad app until later this year. Seems the ios operating system is to blame

How are you trying to connect? You don't say. It is my understanding that if you are trying to use the Wi-Fi connection, it is only available for the android system at this time. Correct me if I am in error.
