I have often been intrigued by natural patterns in nature right below my feet as well as man made things found in interesting or unusual places as I look down on them from above. Often as not I am looking for a new texture or pattern that may be useful on some project. But enough about what strikes my fancy. I would like to see what you all capture from the superior positon as you compose your images looking down, be it standing on the ground, on a mountain side, or from the top of a building like I have seen Simon do a time or two.
I'll kick this off with these few images.
I really liked the luster of the wet pebbles on a beach somewhere
Imagine my surprise when I cropped and discovered the cool star bursts in the midst of it all.
from above the falls looking down
Another mosaic on the Capitol's floor.....
Aha, a new direction. Good thinking, Larry. I'll see what I can do.

sorry about the double post
haven't caught on to the finer points as you can tell by the title of my challenge.
Don't know where the strange characters came from...
on the downhill side of life so I'll just coast.

Good looking down compositions, the mosaics are nice. It would be good to see all of the patterns. If I don't have a wide enough lens with me or on the camera sometimes I'll take multiple images that overlap about 1/3 left to right and 1/3 top to bottom. Then in post processing merge them in a panoramic in order to get it all in.
Good job with the challenge theme.
