I am considering this lens for my Pentax K50. I am going to Seattle in July to see my grandkids and I'll be taking them to the Museum of Flight, the Arlington Air Show, and possibly out to the ocean. I just want a good all around one size fits all lens for most of the trip. I'll be buying it used to fit my budget.
I've been to the Pentax forum and read their reviews.
Does anyone have any specifics about this lens? Strengths/weaknesses?

have it on my canon camera and no complaints but don't forget it is a zoom lens will not be the sharpest knife in the drawer also it does do macro but it is not a true macro a true macro is 1:1

I have used it on several of my Pentax bodies (K20-K3)......

Focus is fast, it is light and it will give you a good range. HOWEVER.....

it will not the sharpest... seems sharpest in the mid zoom range and f8 seems to be it's sweet spot. At 200mm it will get a tad soft.

Overall for the price it can be a good lens once you get to know it over time......

Frankly I had lots of problems with the Tamron 18-200. So I no longer buy from them.

My daughter bought one from KEH and used it for wedding photography. Worked great.

You didn't say what other lenses you own. If you only want to use just one lens only, go with the 18-200mm. You're going to an air show, museum, and the ocean trip. I would take an 18-55mm kit lens and a Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro lens for Pentax AF. $200 new. Macro is 1:2. Have a good trip.

After much more consideration I'm going to take the 18-55, the F 35-80 off my old film Pentax and the Takumar 135mm f3.5. If I need longer reach I'll just walk closer. I can put the money into the trip so I don't run short. Thanks for all the replies.
