I have been using Picasa from day 1 and really liked it to work on my travel (documenting) pictures. Now that Picasa was bought and dropped by Google, I am lost. I can't seem to find out how/where to download the pictures from my Lumix camera to Google. *I am not thrilled with this change -however I am not able to find a program, free or not, that is like Picasa. Aside from the basics, I like to add text to my pictures. I would appreciate your knowledge on downloading to Google and what other programs are simple like Picasa was. Thank you.
Picasa isn't gone if you know how to get into it. My daughter showed me how when I was mourning its loss.. If you have a new picture that you want to edit, right-click on that picture and you should get a drop-down screen that asks how you want to open it. Choose "open with Picasa" and your picture--in fact, the whole folder--is available to work on, just as it was before Google decided that as of May 1 it would no longer "support" Picasa. You're welcome!
If you had Picassa on your computer before then it will still be there and available to use just like always. They haven't erased it from your computer.

You can use Picasa stand alone
My pictures did download to Picasa and turned into Google. I can pretty much figure it out but can't find where I can put text on a picture.
I went thru my downloaded pictures and found that 1. they are not only somewhat out of order but downloaded backwards and 2. don't see a way to divide them into albums.
From what I am reading, I really would like a different program that makes albums and has text which Google does not. Any ideas?
Just tried my Picasa3 and it opened right up. Google won't provide any updates, but I think my copy will run as long as I don't disturb it. djt
mine is working the same as it always did--luckily!
Everything went well in Picasa until I uploaded my pictures and then they were all forwarded to Google pictures. If anyone can tell me how to prevent that, I would be so very happy!! I love working in Picasa.
Looking for the same answers.

Unpreventable. New spelling for Picasa is Google.
picassa is not gone.only thing is,there are no more updates on picassa.that's all.joseph
My Picasa3 works just like it always did--no problems at all. Nobody took it away; Google just stopped supporting it and there will be no new versions. Nothing changed, really.
I recently bought a new computer and was upset when I couldn't download Picassa. After some research I found you can still download it at.
http://filehippo.com/download_picasa/Works the same as it always did.
