Not familiar with the battery, but is there a reason to suspect that it might cause damage?

Oh, I see. They're 3.7v - never heard of a 3.7v AA. If your flash wants 1.5, then 3.7 could be a problem. Let's see what our experts have to say.

jerryc41 is right. 1 cell lithiums are rated at 3.7 volt where nickle cads and nmh are rated at 1.2 volts, akalines are 1.5 volt. So you are trippling the voltage. Flash should have really been bright when it died.

Coudnt find anything on line saying they were good or bad, but I would not take the chance

the nikon site says that the batteries should not be more than 1.5 volts or the service agreement is invalid. they

a good rechargable battery is the sanyo eneloop,no memory and recycle time.

I'll endorse the Eneloop recommendation. I've been using these AAs for two and a half years in all my flash guns and battery grips. Long life, reliable and no sign of any beginning to fail.
Note these are low drain batteries. They come charged and will hold charge for a year or more - very useful if you don't want to keep topping them up.

3.7 volts in the place of 1.5 is way too much. Don't even consider it.
I am going to change to the Eneloop batteries.
Also, if you are interested or concerned with recycle times, see this thread that I started awhile back. It has a photo of the recycle times chart for different types of batteries right out of the SB600 flash unit manual.
I've always used only alkaline because of their notoriety, but I was really surprised that alkaline has one of the slowest recycle times, and NI-HM is the fastest...which I thing that is what the Eneloop batteries are...

Thanks to your advice I went with the eneloop rechargeables. They came the other day prechraged so I loaded then in the flash unit and just started taking random shots to see what the recycle time was and how many shots I could take in until there was a lag in the time it took to recycle the flash.

The first 60 pictures the recycle time was immediate
The next 50 pictures there was just about a 1 second delay
The next 50 pictures it was taking about 1.5 - 2 second delay
After that I just kept shootong to see how long the batteries would last. I ended up taking 320 pictures on the four batteries right out of the package.

If I compare these to the Energizer rechargeables I was only getting 150 flashes and much longer recycle times & that what I was asking about rechargeable.

A Big Thanks
