What is a good walk around lens for a nikon full frame fx dslr camera
Depends on what you want to shoot.
Some like the 28-300 but it isn't wide enough or fast enough for me.
I use the 24-70 but am interested in the 24-120 now that Nikon has improved it.
Good luck with your decision.

Don't know, none of my lenses walk, I have to tote them.
:)
for a crop sensor it's 16-80mm, for full frame it's 24-70mm.that's for me.

24-120 would seem to be an ideal walk around lens as it would afford you to take shots of landscapes and, then, outdoor portraits of some of your friends too.
Nikon cameras are what I typically use, but my Canon 5 MkII does a great job with the Canon 24-105 L series lens and it is my favorite walk around camera/lens combo for times when I don't feel that I need the 36+ megapixels offered by my Nikon D810s.
Anyway, a 24-105 mounted on a Canon or a 24-120 mounted on a Nikon are lenses that will enable you to take shots of most anything you would be confronted with on a typical walk around and the prints these lenses produce are quite suitable even when enlarged up to 16"x20"..
