Thanks for your feedback CC, I don't know of Nye hill but Nyetimber is very much associated with Worthing in West Sussex, there is also a Nyetimber vineyard. It all adds up to returning as you suggest and if you do I can certainly recommend Scotney Castle as a place to visit .

After the mention of the people at the right hand edge, I went back to look. Only because it was mentioned, I looked (and had to look hard) to see the figures. They could be cropped without wrecking the picture, I guess. And it would be a minuscule crop.
Thanks for singing the praises of Kent and Sussex! I think it is a special part of England. Here in NEW England our ancestors must have thought it special as well because many of our towns are named after ones in the area. On my most recent visit, I even saw a little lane named Nye Hill and Nye is a name among my ancestors. I was just exploring and doubt if I could find the place again. There was a car on my tail, so it was too late to turn without causing a pile up and there was no pull over place.
Guess I will have to come back again and do some more research. However, that will be no hardship as there are so many more things I want to see and a chance to revisit Scotney without orange fence and scaffolding.
