I am going to copy some jpegs to an SD card to send to my family in the US. Should I format the card in any particular way or just use a new one "out of the box" It seems easier than trying to email them. Thanks for any advice.

Would it be easier to share them on the web?
- add them to Google Photos, Google Drive, Dropbox, or the many other sites for free
Seems quicker and easier than mailing something. S-
Or upload to Flickr and your family can easily view a variety of sizes and also download them.
Too complicated for them, I fear. They can print those that they want for the wall, ect. at Costco or somewhere like that. There will be a lot of pictures and I can do this over a couple of weeks.

Assuming that you use a format that can be found by their computer and that it contains only standard JPG, TIF, PNG, Raw or other files that can be read by their software, there should be no trouble, EXCEPT that international mail will be subjected to powerful X-ray scanning. Note that I am NOT concerned about the low level scans of domestic mail.

A photo CD should be readable on any computer.

How about putting them on a CD or DVD? I've received home made video DVDs from Australia that worked fine.

Not sure if anyone answered your question... Either way should work fine as most all computers can read an SD card. It should not matter what camera it is formatted with.

Yes, you can get mailers for a cd.. I have had problems with dropbox (my fault), and a blank cd is rather inexpensive compared to just about anything else & the capacity is hugh.. Going the CD ROUTE REQUIRES A LIttle more self-training. I have sent emails of photos which ended up in their spam folders.... or "what did you send me a black email for? " (off the bottomof the page) The CD PUTS THE "LEARNING" ON YOU... [caps lock..sigh]
