I was trying to take a photo of a heron, then I heard this little female kingfisher chattering above me. They're fast little birds, I've tried to get a photo of one for the last couple of years without much success.

Nikon D 810 with Nikor 200 - 500 (hand held)

Beautiful. All are great but I favor #2.

I can barely get a good shot of a kingfisher stationary - these are amazing shots - I commend you on your diligence and patience as well as your photography skills.

Great job and am a little envious - like you I too have been trying for a couple of years to get one in flight but so far haven't succeeded so I know how hard it is.

Great shots you've got the reflexes of a cat, they are so fast I usually can't get to my camera and they are gone.

If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. You nailed it. Great shots.
