Possibly, but you can't post the pictures on UHH! Sounds like a David Hamilton kind of thing....

Interesting, it's on the internet so it must be art, but my local democrat sheriff wouldn't see it that way- thanks ron

Well, art, like various other things is in the eye of the beholder, and many people can't define it but they know it when they see it. Such is our modern world!

Not sure if it is related to any political affiliation or not.

Nope. You heard wrong. Look in your camera manual and you will find the recommended card specs to use in your camera. Lower spec cards will impede performance, especially if burst shooting or shooting video. Higher spec cards won't necessarily hurt performance and could, in some circumstances, improve it. If in doubt, simply follow the manufacturer's recommendations. They built the camera. They know what it needs to work best. Buy a good quality card, such as Sandisk, (there are others) and you will be OK. BTW, higher speed cards can improve your download time to your computer but won't make much difference to your camera.

why does there have to be a real smart arse, why when people ask questions can't we answer them in the manner in which they were pitched, what interest has the question poser in the anthropomorphic version of binary states. The question was do you need different memory cards for different tasks, so rather than try to impress us with your in depth knowledge of matters that do little to improve our photography just answer the question

To whom are you addressing your comments? It might be helpful if you use the "Quote Reply" option. Thank you.

Well, it came right after my comment about Stonegood, and it wasn't a reply to anyone, so I thought I'd offended a KR fan (I hear he has one or two). I can't understand why someone so active on the forum could be offended by anything you'd say. People are so sensitive these days.

I couldn't understand where the OP got his information, but I drove past Fry's today and it hit me!

A few years ago I bought a Canon camcorder from 42nd St. Two days after the order, I got a phone call from my salesman. He said the camcorder was ready to ship, but he wanted to make sure I knew that it required a new superfast sdcard that cost $140, but he would sell it to me, as a good customer, for only $120 and they could ship it with the camcorder.

Sounded wrong and I decided to take my chances with all the cards I already had.

It was an out and out lie,of course. I was pretty sure of that, but still checked with Canon. Yes. The guy was lieing through his teeth. But I did learn one thing. . .

NEVER, NEVER, DO BUSINESS WITH 42nd St Photo.

We keep hearing that (sadly must be true).

I got it from another forum -- not photography, but cameras were being discussed. While I wasn't positive (being new to this hobby), I kind of figured it had to be a filing thing.

Anyway, as ignorant as I am on this stuff, I am kind of glad now that I broached the topic because I have learned a heck of lot, stuff that I never would have known in a month of Sundays. I've already purchased the best card I can find for both specs and reliability.

I also think it was a good topic to raise. There are differences, and they matter to different people in different ways. So kudos to you for asking.

When things are complicated, the answers can also get complicated, and trying to either explain it or understand it can make your brain hurt.

Mine is just cooling down from writing a blog post on quantum computing. It might still take a while 'cos I find it a difficult topic to wrap my brain around! Is there a QC for Dummies book that I have missed? Sure could have used one.

Either which way, simple answers to complex questions or complex answers to simple questions can be either helpful or not. Difficult to know, but the conversation can be useful.

There is an awful lot of misinformation floating around out there. I wonder how many of these questions are serious concerns for people; I'll bet a lot of people are afraid to ask questions just because they think the answer is trivial or, even worse, obvious. I would have been willing to bet you got that information from one of the more "famous" (read notorious) bloggers or from an employee at Fry's or one of the equally reliable stores. At least you asked the question! 8-)

BTW, I saw a rack of 256mb, Class 4 cards at a dollar store; now there's a source for some highly technical advice.
