NO. It has taken me several days to transfer all my images from Picasa to Google Photo. At one point it stopped for no reason, at least no reason I understood. The next time I started up the PC it resumed and has been going since then.

You can still use the editor as long as it doesn't crash or become incompatible if you upgrade your operating system.

Not directed at you Linda.

And as we all know, between hardware and software changes that everyone demands(bigger, faster, etc), it is just a matter of time. Using unsupported tools is like Russian Roulette and Murphy's law, when you least expect it, it will get you. Sometimes FREE has a cost. :)

Google Photos is an excellent method of storing, organising and editing your photographs,
I have been using it from the day it was launched, and it's free to use, the only stipulation is you are limited to a maximum of 16mb size for your photos, this is ample for most people !!

16mb size???? I have individual photos larger than that. Even 16GB is no where near large enough.

Picasa platform will disappear in May and already replaced with Google Photos.

Presumably the result of Google buying Nik software, leading also to the demise of Nikon View NX and the subsequent launch of Nikon NX-d and NX-I.

Nikon View NX 2 is very much available and supported. You can download the latest (Jan 20) version here:

http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/166/ViewNX_2.html

Nikon Capture NX is no longer supported as it incorporated NIK features to which Nikon no longer has rights.

My under standing is that if you have already down loaded you can use still use it, but it will not be supported. I am not sure about the storage. It belongs to Google and they are supposed to come out with another program. The camera that you have should have a program that is easy to use for some PP. I use Canon's program for most of my PP. Picasa was not bad for organizing but I never cared for it PP. There is several more programs that are not bad that are free. Just google free photo soft ware.
This a link that explains what is coming up.

My under standing is that if you have already down... (show quote)

My Canon SX 530 HS did not come with any software or cables. I asked my son to look into it. He works for them. Also in SCM I can only get Macro and Portrait modes...

It has come to my attention that in February 2016,Goggle has killed Picasa. It would be a grave injustice to many as it is used for PP without a steep learning curve. I have been using it for over a decade and am pleased with its rapidity and organizing features. I cannot fathom the possible termination . Appreciate any information. Thank You

I just downloaded it as of yesterday and It worked just fine...

When was the last time you ran a spreadsheet in Lotus 1-2-3? Software comes and goes, and many people mourn the loss. They abandoned it because Google's "Photos" is supposedly better than Picasa.

"Google's "Photos" is supposedly better than Picasa" Which is a bullocks!

I think 16 MB applies to a single image. A 300 GB photo MUST be a huge sucker!?

16mb per photo is small. My camera produces anywhere from 15mb to 25mb photos.

Yes, the RAW files off my Sony A7RII are 80 MB... But still a long ways from 300 GB.
