Hi -- my first post to UH, though have followed for a while. Wanted to make a plug for Ape Case backpack. Bought mine a year and a half ago before setting out to Antarctica for a month's field work. A massive case, I've carried my Sigma 150-500 in it along with several other lenses and a large laptop. Too big to fit under airline seat, but can be broken down into two parts -- inner and outer -- so I managed to take it as carry on luggage. Very tough case, stood up to fierce weather. I paid $130 for it then, and see it on Amazon for $100 now. Well worth the price if you want and can handle the size.
Check Amazon they have one that's called the Amazon Basic bag. It's black & runs about $40. I bought it to take overseas this summer. It fit my Nikon7100, Tamaron 150-600, Fuji XE-2, chargers & 2 lens.
Forgot to say it won't fit big lens mounted together.

I'm a pretty big fan of seeing and touching camera bags before I buy them. I also like to try fitting what I intend to carry into the bag. Fortunately, for me, I am close enough to NYC that I can shop at B&H/Adorama in person. That being said, I have a closet full, and I really do use all of them. Depends upon what I plan to shoot. Best of luck with this.

Does anyone make a quality and reasonably priced backpack that will carry a DSLR with the Tamron or Sigma 150-600 mounted? Thanks.
Check out Click Elite's series of Photography Adventure Packs.
I bought one several years ago to carry my Canon 60D with Battery Grip and Sigma 150-500 attached.
I have a bad back so it was important for me to have a good hip support waist belt support sysrem. I also wanted a pack that would take a water blader as well for hydration which some of their models do.
The seleeve for the bladder on mine is external to the gear compartments, with a built in external draiin.
Well paded & adjutable, materials are all high quality.
At the time Click Elite were the only Photography Back Packs that I found built with the load carring features of true Back Packs.
I believe I bought mine from B&H.

I have a tarmac expedition 5x that will fit my sigma 150-500 mounted. very nice backpack that I bought on this forum a while back.
I just purchased a small sling that should do the trick. I have a Nikon with a Nikon 18-300mm mounted.
It is made by Precision Design.

I am partial to Lowepro products. Have their 450AW and 2 sling bags (100 and 200) as well. I also have a samsonite backpack (general purpose) that I have custom fitted for camera use, which is what I generally use while traveling. My own contraption makes it easier to carry bulky loads with easy quick access.
B&H often has camera backpacks on their deal of the day at tremendous savings, keep an eye on it ... here's one from 2 days ago. They had this 140$$ for $49

Yes at goodwill they are very cheap
Easier to design the bag for your equipment. When my daughter graduated high school and bought a new backpack for college, I took her old pack and stopped by a company that makes boat seats and they gave my all the scrap foam I needed to customize a pack for my gear. D7100,flash,18-105,80-400,table top tripod, battery recharger, and numerous other items. Outside straps will handle my full size tripod. Tons of room for more gear and it was free.

I bought the Amazon Basics backpack. They have two, a regular and a large. I bought the smaller one, which might not be large enough for a super-zoom, but I dont know for sure since I dont have one.
As for the quality of the bag, its amazingly well-constructed for the $25 I paid for it. Im very pleased. I would have opted for the larger bag if I had the equipment to go into it.
Good value.

I use a Tamrac expedition 5x. I have had this for years and it is still going strong carries a lot including 2 bodies and my sigma 150 to 500 plus other lenses.very satisfied held up to all my expeditions. I do a lot of hiking and waterfall shots never an issue. It also has a tripod pocket to carry your tripod.EXPEDITION 5X Tamrac.
since I hike with mine, I get a good hiking backpack then purchase foam and make my own cutouts. You end up with a much better setup.
