FBI formally confirms its investigation of Hillary Clintons email server
Article By Pete Williams
In a letter disclosed Monday in a federal court filing, the FBI confirms one of the worlds worst-kept secrets: It is investigating Hillary Clintons use of a private email server.
Why say this at all, since it was widely known to be true? Because in August in response to a judges direction, the State Department asked the FBI for information about what it was up to. Sorry, the FBI said at the time, we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any investigation.
Now, in a letter dated February 2 and filed in court Monday, the FBIs general counsel, James Baker, notes that in public statements and congressional testimony, the FBI has acknowledged generally that it is working on matters related to former Secretary Clintons use of a private email server.
Baker says the FBI has not, however, publicly acknowledged the specific focus, scope or potential targets of any such proceedings.
He ends the one-paragraph letter by saying that the FBI cannot say more without adversely affecting on-going law enforcement efforts.
The letter was filed in one of the Freedom of Information Act cases brought against the State Department over access to documents from Hillary Clintons time as secretary of state. This one was filed by Judicial Watch.

Clinton arguably boasts experience in government unparalleled by anyone in the presidential field but that has also made her a high-profile target for attack.
My comments;
Be care what you ask for, Twurdlow! I didn't have to look far for this story either! Yesterday it was buried among a bunch of other news stories.....today Yahoo has it on the front page! Which fact suggests to me that this whole thing could blow sky high at any moment; Bernie Sanders may very well find himself as being "without competition" soon!

I am amazed at the glee you show in your post, as you mis-lead the readers here, and perhaps yourself as well. I will assume you are misguided and don't understand the issue you bring up.
For the readers, our issue is a paragraph of comments Gitzo added at the end of a post by another writer that he had pasted into the site.
Gitzo's controversial comments involved are these:
"My comments;
"Over the summer while her campaign was bogged down in the email controversy"? I have bad news for these schmucks........if they think Shrillary was "bogged down" over the summer with her email fiasco, they haven't seen anything yet! I wonder what they think all of those 100 to 150 FBI agents are doing, picking their noses?
The FBI has just announced publicly that it's their intention to seek an indictment of their arrogant "boss"; and Omarxo's fat-ass "puppet" at the DOJ has already been informed by the FBI that if she is "unwilling to do her job", that the "SWHTF"!"
"I wonder what they think all of those 100 to 150 FBI agents are doing, picking their noses?" "That's not too mature, is it?
The FBI will do what the FBI does, in its own time, and in its own way.
I can almost guarantee you Hillary will not be indicted. How can they arrest Hillary for doing what Colin Powell and CondI Rice's people did?
She sent emails in real time that were classified sometime later. Big deal.
She couldn't possibly submit those real-time documents to a classification committee beforehand.
But you stew in your moral morass, irrational and assuming--that is, hoping--for trouble.
Big waste of time, buddy.
The above is the bulk of our exchange exactly as it occurred, except for my repair of a spelling error or two of mine.
The quote below is new:
Baker says the FBI has not, however, publicly acknowledged the specific focus, scope or potential targets of any such proceedings. The FBI initiated an investigation at the request of a judge--what else could they do?--and confirm that an INVESTIGATION is under way. They will indict whomever when they feel it necessary, if they feel it is necessary, and without intention beforehand, or assumption of guilt on the part of anyone.
