I wondered how long it would be before somebody made this into a political discussion.

Shame on you!

It's the "driver issues" mentioned in the article linked to above that made me decide to buy a Macbook Pro.

If it is called SOFTWARE, change is inevitable. Using a computer or OS that is over five years old puts you in that frustrating position of having to upgrade soon.

At the rate the bad guys hack systems these days, you DO NOT want to use one that Microsoft or Apple has abandoned.

Dead systems include every Win system from XP backwards, soon to include 7, 8, 8.1. Apple has effectively killed OS X 10.6 backwards. 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 are on life support, and 10.10 soon will be.

Plan on full support for no longer than five years per release.

I fully understand that operating systems have a life cycle. What irritates me is that MS is, through auto updates, downloading pieces of Windows 10 to your computer. One day you will wake up, turn on your machine and find that you're now running the new operating system. I fully intend to upgrade (currently running Windows 7), but not until more of the bugs have been worked out. I've read too much bad press and horror stories that tell me that W10 is not ready for prime time. If you're like me and want to upgrade at your schedule, check out the link below and download the software. GWX Control Panel Monitor will block and and all attempts of downloading any W10 software and will also stop the nagging messages that pop up reminding you to upgrade.

Windows will likely never be perfect but my impression at this point by consensus, is that Windows 10 is the best Windows ever
