Straight from the camera...good or bad?

I have been taking photos seriously for 2 years now, I have had my Nikon D3100 for about 9 months now and i have finally got one photo straight out of the camera, and one that just needed a little chromatic abrasion fix.

here they are, tell me what you think.

Might be my monitor but the second looks a little out of focus...better on the lower leaf...

I see what your talking about, the focus is about a half inch in front of the middle of the flower, I think it was the wind, at least thats my story and Im sticking to it. thanks for the insight.

I'll agree with Ward, the second one doesn't have as good focus as the first. I think some of your limited DOF favors the near side of the flower at the expense of the far side.
That being said, I think you still have alot to be pleased with here, and it should be a great encouragement to you! Good job!

Both look good to me even if #2 is slightly out of focus. It has a very redeeming feature and that is being able to see the green leaf showing through the top petal of the blossom. Beautiful and interesting. Rbo36
