Hello, I'm new to this site and there seems to be a wealth of information to be had here.
That being said, on December 3rd of 2013, I decided to purchase a D610 to go along with my D300s. I absolutely love the camera especially in low light.
Well flash forward to December 8, 2014, I am shooting a ballet recital and halfway through, I get a dreaded ERR message. I finish out with my D300s and at the end of the recital I check the camera and it appears that the shutter is malfunctioning.
I get home and pull up my warranty information and yes, I am past the one year warranty for the camera by five days. AAARRRG! I sent it off the next day to Nikon.
Nikon fixed the issue under warranty for which I am very appreciative by replacing the shutter mechanism. I would be surprised if the original had more than 10 k actuations. My question is this, has anyone else on here experienced a shutter issue with their D610?
Glad they fixed it for you. Maybe Nikon wants to play it nice after all the problems with the D600.

While I have had no shutter issues with the D610, nor any other Nikon for that matter, Nikon has always been quite lenient with the expiration of their warranty periods. In most cases you can expect to get a full 13 months out of your 12 month camera warranty, sometimes more if you are nice. Consider it Nikons "Bakers Dozen".

Nikon's policy has always been to allow a couple of weeks over the expiration date on warranty. It is case by case but generally between 2 weeks and a month. Also, the politeness of the caller goes a long way toward their helpfulness. If the person calling has called for 20 other issues that were user error, they will probably fix the issue but not be as generous as the one that calls in for the first time. This is more human nature than the policy of Nikon. Also, Nikon will possibly heavily discount a repair if it is a first time issue after the warranty. Canon is probably the same way but having worked for Nikon Support, I know how they do it.
I have a D610 and love it! No problems ( knock on wood)!
I think Nixon fixed it's issues by coming out with the 610.
I'm glad to hear they fixed it free for you, you can have an issue with any camera you buy, you just never know.
Have fun with your camera!
Just bought mine. I hope all goes well!
There is a similar issue with the D750!!!

Really? what exactly is the issue? The OP said he received an error indication and sent the camera to Nikon who replaced the shutter mechanism. None of that describes the problem
It is great Nikon fixed it for you. When I buy my Nikon DSLR, I buy the 2 year extended warranty from Nikon.

It has been over a year now since the repair and I have not had any issues since.
Shutter stops working and in my case basically mangled the shutter when it failed. Sorry I don't have a shot to show you but shutter was twisted and bent. Early indication of a problem was with first shot after turning on it acted like it locked the mirror up and a second push of the shutter release returned to normal until it mangled.
Go to the Nikon website and there is a place where you can enter your serial number and determine if you D750 has the bad shutters.
