Unfortunately my Nikon camera is dying. It's a D5000 and I have two lenses with it. It's been fixed once but I hate to spend the $$$ to have it fixed again. So...suggestions for another camera???? Thanks!

Since you already have Nikon lens, could upgrade to another Nikon if lens are good. Or you could sell what you have and start over with a little money from the sale, or you could trade it in for a new camera. Go to Nikon official site and compare their cameras and see what fits what you want to use it for. Good luck.

Maybe look at the just released D3200? Or consider an upgrade to the D7000.

Since you already have nikon glass, I'd go for the d7000. I almost made the switch when I was upgrading bodies, but I was already too heavily invested in glass for Olympus. Weather sealing was also an issue for me, which the 7000 did not offer.

Actually the Nikon D7000 is weather-sealed, always has been.

I stand corrected...I swear when it was first released that it wasn't...or at least it wasn't really well advertised as being...anyhow, I'm too far down the road with my setup, but would probably switch to the 7000 if circumstances were different.

Weather sealed body was one of the most advertised selling features of the D7000 in the original ad, along with the true HD video, both were unprecedented in a body in that price range at the time.

I recommend the D5100 over the D7000.

It has the same sensor thus the same pictures. It has a fully articulated screen which I find invaluable.

If weather sealing the camera is important then the D7000 would of course be a better choice.

When you get to your short list compare them on snapsort.com. Its criteria likes the D7000 better because it weights the screen and cost lower than I do. You need to decide what criteria matter to you but snapsort lines up all the features to simplify the comparison.

One of my cameras is a D5000 , had it for about 3 years, no problems-- did you send it back for the recall, it is free and no postage

I'm sure I'll upgrade before long.
Look's to me like the D7000 is better than the D3200.
But the price sure hasn't came down :)
