Thank you Jim. Come on over. I give season for free. I have some kids around me that have been learning to carve with me. Some of them are getting to good so I might have to kick them out of the classes!:):)

As always, some incredible work that you do. You have a gift and are taking it over the top. Very nice.
Nice work. Anyone with that carving talent should be proud.
Rereading my post correction. It's really a hardwood ,what I meant was it's easy to work. When working it feels like your working with softwood.Try to not get splinters, hurts like hell from all the oil in it. I prefer finishing with linseed oil, varnish can be applied .Gluing is a b@#$h,ordinary glue doesn't work to good.Had to use a water activated glue and clamped. But once the piece is done and aged it's awesome. Was in a yacht a year ago that I had done a rolltop for, with a double curved front and it still was working as the day we put it on the boat. That was 12 years ago and the vessel is used year round.
There's a double dose of magic here Erv.

Your carvings are incredible.
I recently saw a contemporary life sized carp carved of some exotic wood sold at an on-line auction for $800. I think it was Cowen's actions. Check it out.
I bet you could carve a fish or another desirable critter just as well.
Food for thought....

An outstanding display of your skills Erv. Thanks for sharing them with the Hedge Hogs.

Thank you so much!!! It is fun, I don't think my carvings really look good till Janny paints them. I guess she has me thing about the ones I did before she painted them.:) She puts the special touch on them.

Thank you Jay!!!! I love to see them come out of the wood. I am going to start pushing the envelope this year and make the birds look real. We will see how it goes.:)

That is awesome. Some woods are very unstable. I have a few carvings in the shop that will not stayed glued.I have a friend that builds high end homes and he uses it in those houses. I will ask him for a few scares to play with.:)

LOL! When I first started looking at these pieces of wood I thought I was going to do some fun faces. Then I turned a page in a book of cavings and saw these. They are a little different, but on the same track.:)

A friend gave me some wood to play with. Was a board about 3-4 feet lone. I don't know what type it is, but it sure carved nice. I will have to ask him the next time he drops by. He is a truck driver and goes all over the place.
And my painter did the magic!!!
Excellent work Erv, I never tried any relief carvings and would think it would be very difficult.
