New to UHH

Thought I would drop everyone a quick note and introduce myself. My name is Jeff and I reside in sunny San Diego, CA. My father was nice enough to give me his Nikon D300s when he recently upgrated to the D800. I purchased the Nikkor 18mm-200mm lens this past Saturday and can't seem to put the camera down. I never knew I was going to have so much fun with this new toy. Here are a few pictures I took on my first day of shooting. It was a cloudy day at the beach but I made do with the flat light. And the second was my lunch. I love sandwiches. Super stoked to enter this world of photography and learn from all of you.

Hi Jeff. Welcome to the nut house.;) Lots of good info and folks here. Is this your first camera, or has the old man let you play? You did very well with the lighting you had. And now I am hungry! :)

Welcome to the "HOG". Looks like your dad would have gotten a pair of D800's and let you have one. LOL. Just kidding I do the same with my son.

Yeah. As I posted earlier, my avatar picture went from Grumpy to Dopey. I'm trying for Happy. I'll skip Sleepy, Doc,Sneezy & Bashful.
I'll keep working until I figure out how get the compressed picture to NOT make my face distorted.
