Goldfinch or House Sparrow?

Is this bird an American Goldfinch or a House Sparrow? I think it's a Goldfinch, but the gray bill also sounds like it might be a House Sparrow. Thanks in advance for your help.

Looks like the winter phase of an American Goldfinch. Has the distinctive wingbars.

Very nice images of what they said.

The one with the broken bill could still probably eat sunflower seed hearts. I wonder, if you kept him alive with them, would the bill eventually heal or grow back?

Good question. I watched him at the feeder and he didn't seem to be having a problem as far as I could tell.
