Thanks to everyone for your input. In the end it came down to an Epson P400, which made the most sense in $$$ and what kind of prints I actually need to make. There's loads of great options out there; and I'll wonder what if ____, but really this is the best fit, today.
Best wishes and Merry Christmas. BP

May I ask what features you liked? And, where you bought it?

Thanks.

Mainly, it was a compromise. The printer uses 8 inks compared to the 6 my old printer uses. It is compatible with Windows 10. The user comments were complimentary. It fit the budget. Cost was a big factor.

What do you do to clean the nozzles that you've found effective?

In-activity is probably leading cause of nozzle clogging. I run a nozzle check once a week if not printing anything. I have had an Epson R800 from 05 thru 09 (died) . Have R1900 since and had only 1 clog before running weekly chk, none since !

The P 400 is almost $600 the 8 cartridge Canon Pixma pro 100 is $149 with rebates. I don't know about you but I can buy almost 4 Canon 100's to one P400. I like the Epson printers but they do tend to clog if you don't use them on a regular basis. That was one of the main reasons I went with the Canon as I have had to trash 2 Epson Printers in the last 3 years for clogged printer heads.

Oops. Forgot this part. Online at Epson. They are running a rebate program, which helps with the cost.

The P400 uses pigment ink and the Pro-100 uses dye ink. The OP's printer being replaced uses dye ink. The price of the P400, after rebate at B&H, is $421. The pigment ink Canon Pro-10 has a B&H price, after rebate, of $450. So, in this moment and until something changes, the P400 is the 13" price leader for those that want to use pigment inks. Most consider pigment inks to be more "professional", more "gallery quality" and more "archival".

OK I got it now. I was comparing apples to oranges.
