After loading Shakey's, Jim-Pops' and andrew.haysom's downloads in separate tabs and flipping back and forth between them, I'm going with Jim-Pop's efforts. That's my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

Oops, somebody added another photo after I made my comment. I'm sticking with my original comment and opinion.

Great job, Andrew. Tack sharp foreground and beautiful colors. It looks so good.

You have any luck getting bites from mosquitoes? :D

LOL! I almost got bitten to death by the darn mosquitoes and midges at a loch in Scotland. I was told that the vacation tour would be bug free. Tour operators I don't trust.

Other than that I love Scotland, especially the Cairngorms for hill walking. Plus we were way up above the locks most of the time. :D

Using the jpg image, I Tonemapped it in Photomatix.

Yep, that's what I had in mind, SoHillGuy. Zoomed right in on the point of interest. Not sure about the woman's tattoo. Maybe it has lost its original color?

My lovely wife has an opinion, lots of them in fact. But we have been married since 1959 and I still love her, opinions and all.

Honest -- it really happened. Believe me, the boys who had been so patient all day long were not happy, not really. But it was such a remarkable thing to have happen ..there's never any tellin' what a fish will strike at. Maybe the gum was just the right size or it fell just deep enough in the current. Who knows?? I was just glad to see that trout go back in the creek for another try, another day. He got really wily after that adventure :) :)

I don't doubt your word, Singing Swan. That must be one crafty fish.

How did you do yours Andrew? I like yours much better than mine. Jim

Jim,
This was my process (as close as I can remember);
- Created five exposures from the RAW in ACR (-2,-1,0,+1,+2) as TIFFs
- HDR merge of these TIFFs in Photomatix (Natural preset with some minor slider adjustments)
- Some slight colour and contrast adjustments using Curves and Hue/Saturation layers in Photoshop
- Sharpened using Topaz Detail
- Added slight vignette around fishermen/women

Andrew

Thanks Andrew. I wondered if you made 3 or more exposure versions of the photo. Also wondered what program you used. Like I said I like yours a bit more primarily because you have less noise. When I did mine I only made the HDR with one exposure. Thanks again, Jim

I once swore off and quit fishing.

It was the most terrifying weekend of my life.

Ah yes, thanks for the reminder, there was a Topaz Denoise step in their too that I forgot when I listed process above.

I thought that maybe you could use some sunshine. Here's a scene shot in Turkey, the bored lady made the image for me. Yet the two guys are intent on catching something.
Have at it in any way you will.
The Jpg file is unprocessed. The RAW (WR2) file is untouched except for producing the Jpg image. Have fun
