Once a year, in an effort to reclaim cups and glasses and that kind of stuff, my wife (who I love dearly and who for reasons unknown feels the same about me) offers to clean and organize my hobby room.
This was found growing in a cup that she chose to leave behind.
A bit creepy!
More light! Higher magnification, please!

Thank you Douglass and Allen -- still creepy, but warm and comfy at 4X - like a hammock
I believe that is what's known as a "Blind Eastern Double Curled Schnozen Beckler" with winter coat.
If I were your wife that cup would have been bagged and binned the day she found it. She is obviously more considerate than me, I admire her. However, nicely captured. I reckon it is the remains of a butterfly head and wing but it could be anything I suppose.

Bagged and Binned - never heard that before, it has a nice ring to it. My wife is a saint. Well... at least she has been Canon-ized.
No, not a butterfly. It has been positively identified as a Blind Eastern Double Curled Schnozen Beckler with an imitation fur winter coat. They are seldom seen on the Western coast and if they are, they are hung on sight.
However, they have a variant called the Blind Western Double Curled Schnozen Beckler, in spite of the fact that the FAA has been cracking down on them.

Looks a tad moldy.
just needs a spring beating.
Looks like what grew out of a coffee cup I left out on the window sill in the barn. Mine might have been the Western window blind variety.

Exactly the kind of situation it was, except it was my hobby room. The Western Barn Window Blind variety is much more acceptable - other than wondering where all the cups went to!!
