I don't want to insult you, BUT, I am tired of reading your biography over and over. You say you have been photographing since you were five years old. As a newcomer to photography I am trying to learn, SO, I would really like to see some of your photo work rather than a lot of chest thumping biographical details. Are you willing to post some of your best work?
I see you have been a member for quite some time with very few posts. Then, when you do post it's something like the above. Perhaps, you may want to set back and what's what before you make "snappy" comments like the one above.

Bill is one of the least pretentious, helpful, neutral, knowledgeable, well informed, well articulated, respectful, etc. members I know of. This may be the first time some members have ever read anything having to do with his "biography" (as you call). :hunf:

makes me sad.

Just an off day I would guess but then again 'snappy' is a curious coincidence easily dismissed within the photographic context.

Hi Bill,

I enjoy capturing portrait style photos, whenever possible, with my long zoom point-and-shoot cameras. This is what I'm passionate about and what continues to motivate me in my love of photography. Here's what I like to do:

Tony, your photographs are amazing and looks like you don't feel any need for DSLR.
Your technique for capturing images with black backgrounds works very good. So, I understand that you use mostly spot or center-weighted metering but not matrix metering as part of this technique, am I correct?
Very impressive, thanks for sharing.

Landscapes and wildlife for me. I too went down the wedding and portrait road years back, never again. I made a good living at it and had lots of referrals, but I just didn't enjoy it. It wears at you and I just didn't have the right temperament for it I guess.

I went back to nature photography and was able to turn it into a living.

A few samples of what I do are below, feel free to check out my website if you like (link is in my sig)

These look better downloaded :)

Hi dandi,

I use Center-Weighted Average Metering for all of my photographs. Thank you very much for your comments.

Wow! Nice work, Tony! I like the style. You have a great sense of how to use side lighting.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your comments and for the opportunity to share what motivates us in this Topic you've created. Yes, I absolutely love the dramatic effect side lighting has on the subject!

I have enjoyed taking photographs for a long time and never really developed the niche I hear everyone talk about.

I just think it is fun and will shoot almost anything.
Lucky for me I don't have to earn a living with it.

I prefer shooting in natural light and would say travel photography is the most exciting for me.

Hi RiverNan,

You have some really beautiful photographs on your blog. Thanks for sharing your link!

What do you photograph?

I've been reading and answering questions in this forum for about a year now, and I see lots and lots of different perspectives and backgrounds. It's cool to read others' points of view and such.

My own photography has run a lifetime gamut... First I recorded family and friends, as a kid. In junior high, I got into school newspaper and yearbook photography. In college, I covered concerts, events, landscapes and travel, all with color slide film.

After a brief career in college radio and commercial radio, I became an AV producer, doing training and promotional slide shows, filmstrips, videos, and photo illustrations for print, in a company that printed school yearbooks and portraits. Eight years of that led to 25 more years in that industry, in eight very different but related roles.

I've continued to photograph people, processes, products, and procedures, in addition to the occasional event or landscape.

But what I most want to know is, what subject matter gets YOUR creative juices going? Are there any really weird specialty photographers here? Where do you point your camera most often?

Nothing weird here. Just stuff that I encounter in my life and that mean something to me.

I like taking an "artistic" picture with as much skill as I can but what means the most to me is that shoebox of 4x6 prints that I can dig through and relive memories.

I am an eclectic photographer. If you go to my flickr site at www.flickr.com/photos/kitkaphotogirl you can see my interests and I have many. As an avid crafter, I look for diversity in my photographic endeavors.
