Vanishing Point on more than one level !
Nell's Dilemma
Nice. This would be a good one if you could ever shoot it again, to do some photo stacking. If you have a current PS version then its on there. Or, you can buy the stand alone software from Helicon Focus for $30 a year. Your photo would be ideal for that technique. Barring that, to add a tiny bit of critique, maybe tone down the blueish tint. Maybe even raise the camera a bit so you can see further down the tracks.
Leave off half or more of the sky, leaving the vanishing point on the upper third line. A quite compelling image.
The rail portion is so visually compelling. really a great B&W with bluish tint.
Crop: I used an envelope to cut the tall trees off showing a little sky above them. Clone out the chain link fence left. Cut bottom up to get rid of the first two spikes. ( the gravel is interesting but not the story...rail is)and bring in the right side so that the metal plate sidewalk looks contentious. As you said damdannyboy this is a vanishing point photo make it as much of that mode as possible. I trust you moved of the track when the 12:14 came rumbling thru...
Love the perspective! Agree that much of the sky is not needed and merely a distraction. There is purple fringing that needs to be cleaned up.
I'd just crop the sky down to the gray bump in the center to eliminate some of the white.
Thanks to everyone for your critiques and suggestions. I will work on this and repost.
