I spent a very enjoyable morning at the Dallas Zoo on Saturday. It had been years since I had even thought of it. The weather was comfortable, the light was good and the animals were cooperative. What a remarkable resource that Zoo is!

If I had met that tiger bounding out of the bamboo thicket in the wild, I would have been much more comfortable looking over a .577 Nitro Express than a Nikon.
The bird (a snow white Ibis) showed me just how dramatic back lighting can be by perching directly between the sun and me.
The look on the lion's face gave credence to the sobriquet "King of the Jungle".

Nice! I love the big cats. The tiger coming through the reeds is very striking.
