Now That the Leaves Have Fallen, Missing Baseball

Pro baseball is the only professional sport I like following. Now that fall color has pretty much finished, I have started looking forward to baseball season again.

I feel your pain! I am a baseball addict. I still play in an adult league, even though I am too old and have no skill any more.

I was going to say, I feel your pain, then I read Quickflash's comments :)

The one good thing is we have enough time to get excited with anticipation for opening day.

I also like college basketball very much, so there's that too :)

Same here. I lived in Bloomington, IN for twelve years during the Bobby Knight era. Hard not to have been captivated by college BB during that time. I still follow IU and hope this new coach can bring them back to prominence. I also follow VT where my one daughter graduated, and the SEC from having attended UT. College Football is also something I watch but only when ranked teams are playing each other. I usually don't spend much time on pro football but have been following it more this year. I want to see how the Eagle's grand experiment works out. They more or less replaced all the skill positions over the last two years and I'm interested in how that works out. I also try to watch Broncos games since I'm a fan of Peyton Manning. Pro basketball is worthless as far as I'm concerned and I have just never been able to wrap my arms around pro hockey and pro soccer. A lot of people say they don't like pro baseball because it's too slow. Those people just don't understand the game. There is more going on between the ears in baseball than any other game. A pitcher or the catcher has to know the hitters -- if they'll go after a high outside pitch even if it's a little off the plate, if they'll chase a breaking curve ball etc. The outfield has to know how to shift and whether to play in or near the warning track. Although it's fun to watch a game where there are five home runs hit, if you really understand baseball, you'll have as much fun watching a good pitching duel with the final score 2 hits one run for one team and 3 hits no runs for the other team.
