Does anyone use this lens? My questions are: 1. I plan on using it with my D7200 (DX crop) would it be OK for general indoor (kid) photos or is it too narrow on a crop camera? 2. Will this lens be OK for a walk around "street lens? 3. There are very few online reviews of this lens and before I drop $600 would like to hear from a few users
Thanks

My suggestion is go for the Tamron 35 mm f/1.8 prime. on your DX body it will yield a similar view to a 50-52 mm on a FX.

If you want a wider than 35mm I would suggest the Samyang 24mm f/1.4 ED AS UMC lens. It seems to be sharp and not overly expensive either.

Thanks, What I think I will do is rent both a 35mm and a 45 and try them for a couple of days.

Thanks, I have a 10-24 and it seems to cover my wide angle needs nicely.

For indoor use on a crop camera I'd definitely go for the 35mm. On crop, the 45mm is a little closer to a portrait lens. With regard to reviews, these are brand new lenses. It takes a bit of time for the various online testers to get to a new lens and thoroughly test it. If these lenses test anywhere as well as the recent Sigma prime offerings they would be a great choice. Full frame fast primes with a great build , stabilization, reasonable size and weight, and for not a whole lot of money, sounds very attractive. If the IQ is good and the AF is accurate and consistent, these two lenses could be quite special.
Renting them and trying them out is the smart way to go before dishing out $600.00 on one particular lens. Your making the write decision. Smart thinking. Your on the right track in your thinking.

Thanks, Just rented a Nikon 35mm and 50mm for $30 for 3 days and now am sure the 35mm is the correct lens for what I want to do. The dealer does have the Tammy in now but should have it in shortly.
Thanks everyone for you comments.
Nice lens. You will be happy with it.

I have the Tamron 45mm lens and I love it! It has a minimum focus distance of 11.4 inches.
I have posted 2 images I took, both at f/1.8.
