LR Import Problem

I have LR 2015.2.1 which is supposed to work OK for importing but it doesn't for me.

When I turn my camera ON which is connected to my computer I get a screen that will import pictures randomly in my Pictures folders without the option of adding keywords and folder name. I believe this isn't a lightroom screen so I cancel that and press import on the LR screen.

It asks me to select a source which I do and then a screen comes up with old pictures some showing "Preview unavailable for this file." No new photo appears. At the top of the screen there is a button that says "Import 175 Photos." I have one new photo in my camera!

I had unchecked "Show "Add Photos" screen in Preferences.

What is going on?

A screen shot, not a word document please.

It almost takes an act of congress to get a screen shot in windows. Then once you get the screen shot you have to attach to some other program to send it. I am glad I don't have to do it that way.

I pressed the download and it showed the screen shot. I don't know what you saw. I agree that it's not easy to send a screen show.

You miss the point, documents can contain unwanted code. I don't worry too much as I have a MAC, but as I practice I don't download things like this from unknown sources. While they may not affect me, it is easy to pass along something unintended.

I tried to paste the screen shot directly on the reply but that didn't work. Can you tell me how to send a screen shot?

Windows? Press the the Print Screen key to capture an image of the screen to the copy buffer. Open any paint program and paste the screen in there. Crop the image if it makes sense. Save it as a jpg file.

Mac? Press Shift+Command+3 and it will save a jpg of the screen to the desktop. Alternately press Shift+Command+4 and then select a region with a click&drag and that region will be saved.

The new upload screen for Lightroom is not like the original version. Adobe and "simplified" it for novices based on Lightroom giving them feedback. I HATE the new import screen but have learned to live with it. Adobe seems to have removed the ability to move folders that were accidently placed in wrong locations and a few other issues that were easily remedied under the old system. Having said that and the fact that I almost never attach my camera to my computer, but use a card reader for my uploads, Lightroom seems to want you to insert the card or plug the camera in before starting Lightroom for it to recognize a new import. Otherwise, it defaults to finding the other thousands of images I already have on my computer. (So much for the rant at Adobe) So the solution to me seems that you have to connect the device that you want to upload from, then start Lightroom. (very inconvenient if you are uploading multiple cards as you seem to have to close Lightroom and reopen after inserting each card).

First I don't have to connect my camera, I just insert the card, further I don't need to restart LR to import a second card. You may simply just have to learn how to operate the import screen
