LR 5.7 and editing Raw via PSE workflow help needed please.
Hi, am stuck with working out how to edit a RW2 file (Panasonic FZ150) which is cataloged in LR 5.7 which I am learning.
How do I get it to open as a RAW file in PSE14 if I want to edit it there to benefit from Dehaze or the like please?
If I opt to edit in PSE14 (which I have set up ok within LR as the External Editor) the RAW editor doesn't open - PSE14 behaves as though it was a JPEG/JPG or TIFF .
Help and advice most welcome please!

Lightroom will send a file to an external editor as either a TIFF or a PSD. You set the option in preferences for external editing.
You could export the file as original or DNG then edit the exported file in PSE 14. Of course then you break the connection back to Lightroom.
In Photoshop CC you can use Camera Raw as a filter on any type of file - I do not have PSE 14 but if it has ACR under filters then you can send the TIFF/PSD to PSE, then apply the Camera Raw as a filter.
Is DEHAZE in ACR in PSE and not available for non raw?
Thanks Dngallager. Point taken about perhaps going the long way round via export and then reload back into LR after any/all editing.
If I opt to edit/Develop within LR there doesn't seem to be any ACR option? The options are as they would be for a non-raw file it seems?
Its probably best to use Windows Explorer to find the raw file and then double click to see if it opens directly in PSE ACR. If it does, then edit using the dehaze and the transfer to PSE editor and save as a psd or tiff in the same folder as the original. Then import to the LR catalog so you can keep the image organized in LR.

Editing within Lightroom is really ACR, with a different GUI, If Lightroom 5.7 reads and displays your raw files then you are actually using ACR - Lightroom 5.7 does not have the dehaze filter though, as Lightroom CC does.
There are presets that can approximate the dehaze file I believe.

Thanks jeep_daddy. Using MAC but yes, via Finder etc. A little convoluted but it would work and minimise file degredation

Ok, yes, then Finder instead of Win Explorer should net the same result.
Cheers and thanks again both!
In LR, right click and pick "Show in Explorer". Then right click the image file and "Open" in PSE.

PSE only works with 8 bit jpeg files, so even if you import a RAW into PSE it has to convert it to a jpeg to process it. Do your RAW processing first in Lightroom, then export to Elements if needed for aditional work, but in the jpeg format.
Thanks sprague and oamanticf16 - both useful !
Can you right click on your photo and edit in PSE 14?
Yes, no problem from within LR to right click and edit within PSE BUT LR dialog box only gives PSD, TIFF or JPEG options for file format when the file is RW2 (Panasonic Raw format). If I change the file format within LR to DNG, I still only get the same 3 options of TIFF, PSD, JPG as before.
It does appear though that I can opt to edit 16 bit
but with very limited support/capabilities so as expected only 8 bit gives full access
