I think you have a great subject, at a great time of the year and are very close in your composition in #2. But I think the contrast is to high so the darkness of the lower half makes the mill look more washed out than it really is. I hope you don't mind, but I tried to show you what I mean and adjusted your image by opening up the shadows and toning down the highlights.

Both good but would have been better in HDR.

Would like to see your ideas, thanks

I was thinking something like this. I am sure you could find more "sub-images" in your original shot as well. I tend to stress composition over pixel-peaking.

Thanks Dave, I really like the look of what you did. i am not that good in photoshop or other programs, and have not tried to do much with them but I can see how just a little tweaking can pull out details and improve the overall picture...John

I am trying to learn to "see" more in my pictures. Most of the time I need to crop a little tighter Thanks for the suggestions.

Couple of shots from this week. What do you think?

Other than the fore ground being a little dark maybe a "half stop" they are very nice images.

I like the second composition best. You can go back after you post and add titles like numbers or names to help discussions. I think HDR would help the large difference of bright water and dark shadows. I would also erase the man in picture 2, he is not the subject. I wish I had this locations to experiment. David

Would like to see the darker portions brought out some.

The second one is beautiful, jcsnell! Personally, I'd like to see the forgroud just a tad lighter.
