Like I mentioned before Parallels

Paintshop Pro does not support Mac operating system at this time and they said they do not have any plans on adding it in the near future unless they get a high demand for it. But here is something that might interest you that I get from IM with Corel customer help chat.
"Corel PaintShop Pro is not available for Mac. However, if you have the Mac OS X Leopard, which has Bootcamp that will allow you to install and use Windows on your Mac computer. From there you can install any Corel Products while on Windows operating system, using a Mac computer. For more information about Bootcamp, please refer to this Apple web page:

Then I opened a colorful fall foliage shot in PSP and used the Curves tool in PSP following the directions for the Curves tool in Photoshop from the other blog. It worked like a charm using the Photoshop directions!
Thanks houdel
Any chance you could direct us to this other blog?
Thanks for the link and info, Bruce :)

It came from a daily newsletter from PictureCorrect, a free on line photography tips & techniques blog. I signed up for it when I first got seriously interested in digital photography. At first it was very useful as I was pretty much a newcomer, but now I have half outgrown it as a lot of the stuff is pretty basic. Then every now and then they come up with something deeper, like the Photoshop Layers & Curves tutorial. A link to their site is below and there is a link to subscribe about a quarter of the way down the page on the right. Most of their stuff is free, some stuff is paid content though.
Discovering that PSP and Photoshop operate SO much in the same manner is a revelation to me though. I've generally tended to blow through Photoshop tips & techniques both on line and in magazines; now I'll pay more attention and see how much I can replicate in PSP!

I have been using Photoshop since CS4 and now CS6 along with plugins like OnOne Perfect Studio (now version 9.5 soon to be 10), tiffany filters and Nik filters to name a few. It has been only in the last 6 months that I learned about the Stamp Layer and find it extremely useful.
Stamp multiple layers or linked layers
When you stamp multiple selected layers or linked layers, Photoshop creates a new layer containing the merged content.
1.Select multiple layers.
2.Press Ctrl+Alt+E (Windows) or Command+Option+E (Mac OS).
To stamp all visible layers, do the following:
1.Turn visibility on for the layers you want to merge.
2.Press Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E (Windows) or Shift+Command+Option+E (Mac OS).
Photoshop creates a new layer containing the merged content.

I've been using PSP in various formats and I have no intention of changing. It does everything I need and is very reasonably priced. It also accepts Topaz plug-ins.

Hello all,
I'm new here and this is my first real post, so bear with me if I'm in the wrong area.
As some of you may have read in my intro forum posts, I have a new PC coming. I will be trying a new photo program as well. I had many of my photo friends at work suggest LR, but my personal experiences with Photoshop products has not been good. Just too complicated for this old dumb guy to get the hang of. This was made even worse by the fact that I am self taught in everything. I had been using Capture NX2, but it is my understanding that it no longer exsists in the form to which I am accustomed... and again I have struggled with using it too. Once more I found it just to complicated and hard to learn. So this time I'm going to try Corel. I have read good things about them and thought I would give their PSP a try, besides what have I got to lose?
Anyone have any feedback here about the PaintShop pro line?
To me it looks like it may just be a kind of do all program, that will organize, convert raw and make adjustments too. This is something I have been hoping for. I'm also hoping its simple to use as well.
Is this being too optimistic? Thanks for any advice you can give.

I went to the corel website but could'nt find out if it did focus stacking or HDR functions. Could anybody tell me? Will probably use Zerene stacker for focus stacking though.
PSP X7, which I have, does not do focus stacking. I don't think it's in X8, either. PSP does HDR, both single shot and multiple shot.
FWIW, I've upgraded to each new version since X3 and been happy with the added features. But I don't really see a compelling reason to upgrade to X8. I'll probably skip it and see what's in X9.

I agree, I'm a little disappointed in the X 8 upgrade it looks like there's not much difference then the x7
Well now there's a Black Friday sale on PPS X8 and Ultimate going on now.
