Just a tangential comment (as I've lived in metro N.O. twice for a total of 16 years): if you or someone else wants a genuine Street Photography experience, I recommend that regardless of your sexual orientation, you be in the Castro District of San Francisco any Halloween night! THAT is when S.F. makes N.O.'s French Quarter look tame! I was there in 1992 but wasn't "in" to photography back then, unfortunately.

I was in N.O several year's ago during Gay Pride week, and the parade was a magnificent photo opportunity. S.F. Castro or Fulsom Street can be excellent, but N.O can hold up its head as at least an equal. Both cities have huge photo opportunity.
