I' m just a bit late. It was the Brooke. I sailed in the Richard L. Page, DEG 5. Their dependents are now called FFGs

It's definitely not a DE. I was part of the crew of a WWII DE, USS Earl V Johnson DE 702 from 1944 to 1946.

The Brooke class was a United States Navy frigate class that was based on the Garcia class DE, later reclassified as "FF" (Fast Frigates), but had the addition of a Guided Missile Fire Control System. The first unit was commissioned in 1966 and the final "sixth" unit was decommissioned in 1989. As stated before, the predecessor to the modern FFG class.. the "first" modern FFG was the Oliver Hazard Perry FFG "7" I watched it being launched at Bath Iron Works .. WOW and now all the FFG's in the Navy have now been decommissioned.. wow .. now I feel old !

I know how you feel .. My first ship (USS America) is also underwater off the coast of the Carolinas
