The last time that I looked up a Corel photo program I thought that they did not develope for Mac OS. Or did I miss something?

For most photographers, Corel will be plenty sufficient for all of their editing tasks.

I totally agree.

Just a hint - when you click the 'Reply' button at the bottom of a post, it does NOT send anything back to the member who made that post, like it does with e-mail. If you click on the 'Quote Reply' button instead, it will reprint the post you are replying to so everyone knows who you are talking to.

I have found PSP to be a very good program. Lots of videos out there and there is a forum (The Beginner's Workshop for PSP) that gives you detailed instructions on projects and you complete each project and post for a mentor to review. I highly recommend this forum if you are wanting to know more about PSP. Here is the site http://bw-forums.com/

I have version X8 on my Windows 10 laptop and only wish that they had a version for the Mac (I don't want to use Parallels on the Mac).

I've used Paint Shop Pro for many years -- before Corel bought it. It has all the functionality of PhotoShop at a small fraction of the price + nicer user agreement. It accepts PhotoShop plugins. I use it with several Topaz plugins, along with Lightzone (now free). That's all I need.

dochal,

For function there is little difference between Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, for operation (completing tasks) there is a large difference. Corel PSP has been developed to perform professional results with a much more intuitive methods for human operation.

If you were a 20 something college entry student with the goal of a degree in graphics development, and graphics marketing development you would want a 4 year course in Photoshop to met your goals in understanding the theories and working knowledge of graphics production.
If you were a 40 something student in photography and needed a good graphics program to help you learn the basics of photography and improve the photographic product, you would not need a degree from a university in graphics, PSP and their users could provide a very rewarding tool for your needs.

Have messed with both. Find WordPerfect to be a far more flexible and powerful word processing program that Word which forces you into their rigid way of doing things. Where have you been?

Actually, I thought WordPerfect morphed into Word. Looks like I may need to find an up-dated copy of WordPerfect and give it a try.

Yes, it is still around. I have WordPerfect X4 still on one computer, but have not liked it since WordPerfect 6 for Windows. Back then I liked it better than MS-Word. Word 2 and then 6 sucked. I think WP is up to X11 or X12 now. Not sure how that numbering goes with the original 1 - 8. Like Photoshop CS6 did not follow Photoshop 5.

Paintshop Pro X8 Ultimate is wonderful. I have used Paintshop Pro ever since JASC Paintshop Pro Version 7 and all the way up through the present X8. I never did want to take the time to learn Photoshop. Unless you are a graphics art developer, I don't think you really need anything better than Paintshop Pro. It is my go to program and I haven't ran across anything I wanted to do that I could not do with PSP. PSP uses most of the Photoshop plugins such as Topaz, Redfield, AKVIS, NIK, and more. I always highly recommend Paintshop Pro. Have a GREAT DAY!

Does anyone successfully use AfterShot Pro on Mac OS Snow Leopard. Is this only for processing RAW files or JPGs also?

I don't run Aftershot Pro 2 on Mac. I do run it on Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and LinuxMint17.1 Rebecca with Mate desktop. It works well and will work with jpg and RAW. You can download a free trial for Mac and give it a try on OS Leopard. Aftershot Pro 2 is the only Corel Product for photo processing that will work with Mac. I really wish that Paintshop Pro had versions for Mac and Linux. I have one computer converted to Linux and I love it. Have a GREAT DAY!
