You might want to check your 35-70mm lens, I doubt its an F1.8 lens, more likely its an F2.8?

It is the non-"D" version. I have the 35-70 F2.8D.....great lens. The "D" gets you the distance information back to the camera to better utilize 3D Matrix Metering and flash power. Other than that, it is identical....it would be a great lens!
