This is true. The reason I sometimes don't catch fish is because my rods/reels and bass boat aren't the latest. The fish just laugh at me.
If I had the latest and most expensive fishing gear I am certain that once they saw my boat and equipment, they would give up and just jump into the boat. My wife doesn't understand this!

I tried to take a picture with my camera and gear,
But couldn't come up with one. Cheap camera I fear.
I bought the finest camera that money could ever buy,
Yet composition eluded me! I think I'm going to cry.

I've actually had someone ask me just like that! (Uh, about the camera. Nobody will ever compliment my cooking.)

If the cameras ever do get into composing, heaven help us. There won't be anything left for us except to shell out big bucks to get the best compositions. I guess at that point photographic awards will be awarded to the cameras instead of the photographers.

Actually, my Sony a77ii does have a composition-assist mode! I haven't used it nor even played with it, but I seem to recall reading that it uses the rule of thirds and maybe some other general principles to tell you where to point the camera. I wonder if you have to actually press the shutter button...

It's not the camera equip that makes it, it's the person holding the camera. Better gear may make it better, but it is still the photographer.
