Okay I tried to tell you the most probable situation of the lens. It's probably the lens is for an SLR and not a DSLR call the manufacture. I did and Sigma and the specifically said if it shoots indoor and not outdoor, then they looked up the serial number and it was an SLR lens. I am an amateur but not stupid. Give me a chance here..

Hi, Bushy,
Quantaray was a store brand (Ritz Camera) that could have been made by any of a half dozen lens makers. With some, it's possible to tell who the manufacturer was by physical appearance; sometimes it's very difficult to tell. I've seen "identical" lenses sold the months apart that have no physical resemblance to each other. When the customer complained of the poor quality of the lens, Ritz was more than willing to upsell to a standard lens, often claiming that the owner damaged a "delicate" or occasionally turning the experience into a circus in which the customer felt like the clown.
Occasionaly, Ritz made a mistake and bought a good lot of lenses, but my guess is that most of the lenses were rebranded seconds or rejects. Strangely, some of the manufacturers, near the start of the digital era, turned their practices around and are highly rated in the digital world, although many still suffer poor reputations from poor quality glass manufactured years, even decades age.
So, referring the OP to the manufacturer, while good advice in the case of a brand name lens, may be almost impossible in the case of a Quantaray. And even if the manufacturer can be identified, they may deny making the lens or claim to have "lost the records" of these old lenses. You have a very good idea, but you are dealing with a reseller that has, at best, a well deserved reputation for nefarious and, in my opinion, immoral, practices.

Should of got a Nikon.
What kind of comment.....
Oh, never mind, you wouldn't understand!
try setting the camera to manual and the lens to manual focus and see if that works. if not, toss the lens. sometimes it's time to cut your losses.
Agoraphobia. This malady does occasionally strike body/lens mismatches.
Therapy usually helps, but, like some/many marriages, there is simply an incompatibility issue.

It's a twenty dollar piece of junk! Even a Canon does not deserve that.......Just bin it and get a lens.
Could you be more precise? Thanks
thank you all. I have gotten rid of the lens. It was for a film camera. I do not have a film camera so gave it to a fella that does.
