My Nikon Dslr and My Nikon 1 System work fine with Windows 10 and I have 10 on all my computers. Even my two Win tablets. This guy is off the wall with that statement.

[I also am running windows 10 on a machine that I upgraded from windows 7 pro to windows 10. The only problem I've had was with dpp 3.14.48 being very slow to load. Going back to dpp 3.08 has solved that problem. This machine is 32 bit, intel i7 850 processor and 4gb of memory installed. It runs great. I have another machine that has 1 gb of ram, a dual core amd processor and it struggles with windows 10 as it did with windows xp and also windows 7. It still works though without any blue screens etc. Just slow. I believe that if you upgrade then you have to upgrade your processor and ram if needed. If that means your motherboard also then so be it. I've used windows from 3.1 to windows 10 and it's no doubt that windows 10 is microsoft's best operating system. I've looked at apple and am still looking at apple. I just hate the strangle hold that apple has on their operating system. I've never had a virus on a windows operating system. Maybe I'm just lucky. I'm not a windows fanboy, but I believe that most of the problems that people encounter deals with the hardware configuration. quote=Haydon]I'm running Windows 10 from an upgrade from 8.1 with 2 gigs of RAM and it runs surprisingly well with it's limited hardware specs (Asus tablet). Installed Startisback and love it!

Interesting. I've just upgraded to dpp 3.14.48 under Windows 10 Pro, and it also felt slow, but it was also a folder with nearly a thousand files, images, both raw and jpeg, plus some video, total around 16GB in one folder. Then I looked at a different folder with just a few dozen, closed and reopened it and it opened up very fast....

I agree with the original post warning about Win 10, but for a different reason. Win 10 disabled my ability to connect to the internet, and despite five hours of attempts by MS to fix the problem, it could not be fixed. Apparently MS did not anticipate the need for a certain Intel driver that Intel has not yet created. MS' solution: convince Intel to create a driver!

Can you tell us the system details, also the wi-fi adapter details as requested? There may be a driver out there somewhere, and it may not be Microsoft's fault. How old is the hardware?

The "Get Windows 10" App does actual do a compatibility test and can highlight if there are device driver issues before doing the upgrade...

[Well I don't usually have a lot of of apps open at one time. I have photoshop, dpp and some video editing apps and copying movie apps, but they're not running all at the same time. quote=actigner]Why would you run 32bit with an i7 processor?[/quote]

That's what I was thinking...., could be time to do an upgrade to W10 64bit, it isn't just about the number of apps, but you are not using the full capabilities of your machine....

That may be true, but to go to 64 bit I might have to add more memory. Anyway I simply don't need the extra power. For what I use my computer for the 64 bit is unnecessary.

I have about 30gb, but under dpp 3.14.48 it opens slowly. Under dpp 3.08 it's considerably faster. I don't know why.

Not true as 32bit only uses around 3GB of your four. If you add more memory it will use it but it's not required.

Do you have all 30GB in a single folder? If so that could be the reason that it is taking time to ingest everything. Perhaps if tried it on a smaller folder it might change things. Good luck!

Yes it is in the same folder. Regardless the v3.08 of dpp still opens up way faster. I'm not complaining though.

My main thought is that if Canon is changing the way DPP v3.x works then you may want to upgrade it sometime going forwards, and so if it would be easy to split your one folder into say four or five folders then you could stay with the latest software, and still have it open pretty quickly.

It's also why a couple of us are suggesting that you may want to move to the 64bit OS sooner rather than later. You will not need more than 4GB of memory, but it could be more efficient, and you may be forced to move to 64bit for some reason in the future.

In either case, my opinion is that you have very little to risk or lose, but potentially something to gain. Unless there are real issues, which there are sometimes it generally pays to keep relatively up to date. We do understand the 'shake the bugs out mentality' but in this instance the bugs seem relatively few and far between.

What we are experiencing is some people, not your good self, who have issues, quite possibly of their own making and are unwilling to either provide enough details for people to help them and in some cases are just being rude and surly.

Good luck, whatever you choose!

Well stated and should end this discussion but unfortunately it won't.

Agree totally. And the mere act of downloading W10 won't do anything other than use some drive space. You actually have to install it to make changes to your computer.

See - it didn't end the discussion.

I agree the snarky comments were uncalled for. There often is healthy discussion and disagreement on these pages. Thankfully, most of it is civilized and constructive.
