I currently have five pairs of Scandisk 16mp for my Nikons, one for raw and he for JPEG. Before that I had several pairs of 8s etc. I have never had a failure with Scandisk cards.

quote=Mark7829]I keep my cards in my camera and download directly from them. If you take them in and out and put them into other devices readers and alike you might have corruption issues. When you open the door to your camera, who knows what the wind will blow in. You take your card and put it on the table, pocket, car seat, etc., who knows what it will be exposed to.

Another piece of personal advice, don't delete images on your card as you shoot. I have heard that can mess things up. I don't know how that would cause an issue but the less you do in that regard is not going to hurt either.

Cards just fail and every manufacturer has failures.[/quote]

True, they would work different in different cameras, but the card was also tested multiple times in a Mac.
The Lexar 2000x came out on top, but the 1000x?? As the author said, "possibly be a card from a bad production run."
Maybe the 1000x has a problem. Maybe not. It would make me wary.
Just food for thought.

I am not disagreeing with you at all....Just on pins and needles, as yesterday ( before I saw his thread:roll: ...) I ordered 4 - 128 gb 1000x Lexar cards. Ordered from B and H - and may get to test their return policy.
It was a great price as compared to Sandisk and others...NOW I think I know why.
SO, looks like I will be replacing them with Sandisk in order to sleep better - because these will be going to Italy - and it would really ruin the trip for me to have problems with SD cards.

Sorry to cast any doubt on your purchase. I just happened upon that test the other night because I, too, am about to purchase some higher GB cards for trip to Europe. Always looking for most bang for buck.
I don't know much about Lexar except it is hard to find the write speed specs of their cards even on the Lexar website.
Hope you really enjoy Italy. Splendid place. You could easily fill up those cards.

Thank you...Well - on the same blog-site that you posted, they have tested the camera I will be carrying, with a number of SD cards:

http://alikgriffin.com/best-memory-card-olympus-e-m5-ii

But - the problem is - they did not test it with any UHS-II compliant cards. And the camera is made to take advantage of UHS-II....
The search continues....

One thing you might not know about Lexar cards is that if you are using one of their cards that is UDMA 7 you should use a card reader that is UDMA 7 compliant. If you don't, then every time you use one that isn't compliant the card degrades a little until you have a card failure. A person that I know well had this problem. They sent him a new card. The first question they asked him on the phone what what card reader he uses. He told them that his Mac uses a fast reader (I don't know Mac so I can't remember what it's called) and that's what he's been using for years. They told him to only use UDMA 7 compliant card readers on their fast cards that have UDMA 7 designations or they will corrupt over time. As soon as he told me this, I bought a new USB3 card reader from B&H. I got the dual SD/CF Lexar UDMA 7 card reader and it was under $20 at the time.

I haven't had a Lexar card fail, but I was told the same thing, using the wrong card reader can damage the card.

Well...I have not either - but there does seem to be:

1. A LOT of chatter about failures of the particular cards I bought.

2. The SLOW actual write speed of the card - it actually underperforms many UHS - I cards.

3. The killer price that this card is available for now - really makes me think they know there is a problem, and they want to dump them, and then deal with the warranty claims on only the cards that come back. That will be much less than a re-call, and - it will not look as embarrassing as a public admission.

Now - this is all theory, I do not know of the reality of all of this.
But, I generally believe that one can usually follow smoke....and find fire.

Just a word of caution to fellow photographers regarding Lexar photo cards.

I have been using digital cards since 1998 when Sony first introduced their 128 MB Memory Stick. I have always stuck to Sony, Samsung and San Disk SD and Compact Flash cards and in 17 years have never had a card fail on me.

Three months ago I bought a new Sony A7s camera and the Samy's Camera salesmen convinced me to buy a couple of Lexar Professional 32GB HC II 1000x SD cards because they were fast and on sale.

Two weekends ago I drove about 3 hours from my house to do a two day photo shoot and took 500 plus photos on my Lexar card which up until now had done fine in my camera, my laptop and my desktop computers. This time was different. I went to review my shots on my camera and got an error message saying the card could not be read, would I like to format at this time. Obviously that would mean loosing my entire photo shoot so no I did not want to reformat.

By the end I saw my photos one time, on my laptop and started to download in batches. I got one batch of 30 photos and that was the last I saw of my weekend shoot. the rest were gone forever. I tried using my desk top, a patch cord, and a card reader. I tried using Lexars recovery 3,4 and 5 software programs all to no avail.

I have a photographer friend (Linda) who shoots weddings. She used this same type of Lexar card and lost an entire wedding shoot. After Lexar pretty much told her to own it, she got her card back and took the card to a pro recovery shop where she ended up paying $2,500 to recover most of her wedding shoot.

I mailed my card back to Lexar. They will not try to recover anything but promise that within the nex 14-21 days, they will check the card and if they find it to be faulty they will send me a replacement card.

Whoopy ding. I'll not be trusting Lexar cards ever again in my cameras.
Just a word of caution to fellow photographers reg... (show quote)

Same problem with a transend 16gig.....had about one third filled and 3 computers will not read it want to format and tried Recuva (if I remember correctly) no luck. Live and learn about saving $4

I Use Lexar and Transend but nothing bigger than 32gb, I also tested the Lexar 16gb 1000x cards and it's all working!! The question is "do you guys really need those high volume like 64bg and up and high speed must more then the camera's spec"?
I travel for vacation from 7 days to 30 days trip and uses 4 to 6 set (jpeg & raw in 2 card slot set of 16gb and 32fb), average bout 1,000 to 3,000 shots per trip. I used D70, D300, D610, D7100 and now the D750 and have not have any problem yet with Lexar or Transend cards, just remember to re-format in the camera, don't do in camera delete, copy or edit, read the instructions and use the right card reader!!!!!!! good luck to you all; & to me too, LOL.

It feels good to learn something every day. I wasn't aware of UDMA 7 needs a different reader. I upgraded today thank you Ugly Hedgehogs.

I have had two failures with Lexar cards and will not buy any more. I'm not one to cast a black cloud over a whole brand but I don't want to risk a failure with some Irreplaceable images so I will stay away from Lexar. The failures I've experience have been with individual shots and not the whole card and has happened on both SD and CF formats. They did promptly replace the one CF card that I had issues with. I use Fuji, Sandisk, or Transcend.

When I read this particuler thread about Lexar failures, I immediately ordered some Sandisk cards... Because I just got a new P900 and put a 32gb Lexar Pro card in it and didn't want to risk any failures.

Well sure enough, when I went to unload the Lexar prior to replacing the card, I had 1 picture out of a dozen that only partially downloaded. This was a new card.. Unloaded maybe twice, but formatted in the camera to start and after every download.

Sandisk only from now on.
