It should not matter but for some of us it does.
I can read lower case books, 300-400 pages at a setting with no strain.
However, an upper case comment of a few sentences requires me to sound out each letter and read it a couple times before i understand what is being said.

Those of us who grew up in the publishing world understand this. As the eye and brain learn to read, they read by reading word forms, not individual letters. This is something that Evelyn Woods understood way back in 1958 when she created her speed reading course, which I took in 1973.

If we were taught to read from Day One using ALL CAPS, IT WOULDN'T CREATE SUCH EYE STRAIN AND WE'D BE ABLE TO READ FASTER. Such is not the case.

It's just too bad that some people, instead of learning etiquette and new things, become Internet bullies instead.

The first poster was just trying to educate. It is a general internet, and specifically social media convention that all caps = yelling. They were just pointing that out. I do not think anyone was ignorant enough to think the OP was actually trying to yell or be rude.

Caps to EMPHASIZE is fine. When people use it for the whole document it's hard on the eyes. (My Eyes)

There's a huge difference between using CAPS sometimes to EMPHASIZE and using all caps all the time. One is considered emphasizing, the other is considered yelling at everyone. Yelling's not necessary unless one is insecure.

Perhaps we are insecure because some weirdos believe CAPS increase the sound level.

"Some" in this case is probably a supermajority of Internet users since not using all caps all the time has been accepted Internet etiquette for over a decade.

not really.
The dude asks a question about focus and dim light with his caps lock on.
three comments address his problem with the camera and 20 comments rant about caps.
The self appointed forum police and bandwagon attacks by forum members are disgusting, self serving and rude.

That right there should indicate to rational people that using all caps all the time is not a good idea. Rational people also don't mind learning.

Google is your friend, but here are a couple of entries for you:

"Studies have been conducted on the readability and legibility of all caps text. Some scientific testing from the 20th-century onwards has consistently indicated that all caps text is less legible and less readable than lower-case text. In addition, switching to all caps in body text may appear hectoring and obnoxious for cultural reasons."

"With the advent of the Bulletin board system, or BBS, and later the Internet, typing messages in all caps became closely identified with "shouting" or attention-seeking behavior, and is considered very rude. As a result, netiquette generally discourages the use of all caps when posting messages online. While all caps can be used as an alternative to rich-text "bolding" for a single word or phrase, to express emphasis, repeated use of all caps can be considered "shouting" or irritating. Its equivalence to shouting traces back to 1984 and traces back to printed typography usage of all capitals to mean shouting."

So, tell us again who's being rude.

No...... Don't think he is ACTUALLY yelling at anyone. So then if he probably forgot to push the cap key. Does that mean he if blind or doesn't look at his monitor while typing.

Well I don't think this "rule" about caps is that important. You should be able to tell when someone is "yelling" at you by the words they type. It's not worth getting bent out of shape.

Me neither.
I figure some might need the caps lock on to be able to see what they are writing.
It's like people getting bent about emoticons.... :hunf:  :?:  :-o  :P

If my D3300 won't shoot, it is usually because of light or focus.
Helps me avoid taking embarrassing pikturds.

And then there are those emoticons.
Like a childen's section at the pizza palace.
Why can't they have meaningful emoticons like one showing you eviscerating the OP's cat or a 6000X6000 pixel image of a steam roller crushing the other guys comments?

I agree. I found your mixed cap/lower to be quite entertaining.
