I think you could keep the shore and try it in B/W and add
some contrast too. Try a return to your location under
better weather conditions or go for some fog, why not,
you got a known location ... use it or lose it.
Ask Bob he always has something up his sleave and a good
idea guy to go to.

I'm just one state over from you Frank. Having been born and raised by the ocean in Cornwall, UK I can't figure out how I came to emigrate to southern Illinois! Now I have to rely on my annual month's vacation back in the old country to smell that salt air. There I shoot boats and ships just to remind myself how it was. (sigh)
This image of a small trawler was at Mevagissey, a small commercial fishing harbour (note the English spelling!) in Cornwall.
I really enjoy your ship/boat-shots, Cornish Pete! The colors are amazing, too :)
(Quite a culture shock for you, no doubt.)
Thanks.
I like the after the storm look to the weather. I love fog, but in this case I think I like the hard lines of the boats coming out of the gray sky and water.
I will try it in black and white, but I am afraid it may go just tooo gray even with added contrast--and it will lose the little bits of color in the boats.
I am glad you like the one with the shore.
Here are a couple of B/W versions. Didn't have much time to play with it--got to go sit with the grandchildren.
What do you think?
AnneA, I find the image with the junk-covered bank more interesting. For me it has an atmosphere that says 'working harbor' not a fancy marina filled with sports-fisherman and ski-boats. I think though that the images could be brightened up with a levels adjustment if you have Photoshop, PS Elements or similar image manipulation programs. Worth a try; yes?
Thanks tilde. Here is an image of the tiny harbour of Coverack, Cornwall just a few miles from Mevagissey where I shot the red trawler image.
My wife and I go to Cornwall for a month every year and even in the small county of Cornwall there are over twenty of these quaint harbours which have remained almost unchanged over the decades.

OK...i didn't take this and i'm not sure it's even real but i had to post it.
Cool shot.....I wonder if it is real?
These are all fantastic shots. I especially love AnneA's photo's of the Ronald Reagan, what great action shots, and what an adventure that must have been!
Here's a couple of mine, not great, but these were taken from our hotel room in Astoria, Or. last July.
Thanks CP.
I have both PhotoShop and iPhoto on my Mac. I don't want to lose the stormy sky and it goes quickly if I start doing overall adjustments. There is too much intricacy in the boat masts to select all but the sky to work on. There would be tell tale signs. Maybe with lots of feathering, but I think it would still be obvious. Right now I am thinking the image is not really worth the effort.
I love your Cornwall shots. I have never been there, but have now added it to my bucket list. I have only been to London and Canterbury--so there is lots left to see in dear old England! I have been to Ireland--but not Northern Ireland.
Here are a couple more boat shots.
Hey AnnaA keep the clouds in the B/W, it really works.
Play some more and get-er-done gal.
