I haven't seen them mentioned yet but one of the most interesting mirrorless cameras out there is the Samsung NX300. I almost bought one myself before deciding on the Sony mirrorless. If I remember right it shoots in 3D.

The evf is a heavy drain, some turn off either the evf or screen. Also settings for screen, quality , brightness, and power saving mode time. Gary Friedman offers several suggestions for improving battery life, but sounds like you're doing ok on your own.

And I forgot about the wi-fi option which I am not using, but good point raised. From what I am learning. Because of the differences, MILC's have a shorter life overall than DSLR's. I have no doubt battery technology will catch up, but right now it works fine for my needs. I have not yet found the need to change batteries when shooting an event, but realize it will probably happen one of these days. Until then, will continue to carry a spare which is always good practice, IMO.

I forget, does Sony have a feature like Live Composite on Olympus cameras?

Battery is rated at 300-350 shots, less if you use flash a lot, or heavy wifi. The focus will hunt in low lite, but can be improved by using spot focus.
Watson batteries work fine and are $20 a piece.
I find live view makes it easy to shoot in low light.

^^^The guy you are responding to has made it his personal mission to re-state the same old gripes over and over again any time the A6000 is mentioned.

HE seems to be at turns blaming and slamming Sony because HE purchased a product without performing adequate research or due diligence.

I should note that 9.9 out of 10 A6000 users on this forum give the camera RAVE reviews, and his comments and opinion are in the minority.

Re: flashes. I do not yet own a dedicated flash for my a6000, but my Canon and older flash for Pentax work fine in manual mode.
Re: batteries: yes, there is a battery drain issue even when camera is off but it is minimal. Last time I checked it was about 5% in a period of 8-10 days. As far as number of images shot, last time out, I captured 1676 images on the original 7 month old battery and still had 45% battery life left. No flash was used. In June, similar event shot over 1200 images, but did not check battery life left. Maybe adding and using a flash is the cause of shorter battery life? Just asking.

^^^THIS... is the typical experience of UHH posters with the A6000. ;)

And I'll restate for you, their native lens line up is small, no comparison with Panasonic/Olympus lines, no adapters needed there. Second restate Sony gear is excellent but the lens (native) is not there yet....

Small?

But does it cover EVERY focal length and price point? YES.

So there are three 50mm lenses instead of 5.... does that REALLY make a difference, ESPECIALLY when you only screw on ONE lens at a time?

And let's NOT get hung up on "Native", because as stated earlier, almost ANY lens manufactured within the last 70 years can be used on Sony E mount cameras... INCLUDING all those Oly lenses people love.

Not that I know of.

But then, Sony cameras have features other manufacturers don't offer.

It's a wash....

I have no problem with people using whatever brand they want, but posting bad info on someone else's choice because you're a fanboy is just wrong. You're right Cholly, I love mine.

^^^It seems to be his personal mission to SLAM the A6000 whenever it is mentioned. Like clockwork... someone says "A6000" and he starts talking about no mike jacks and Sony hotshoes.

Heck, even I don't attack the 7DII as much as he jumps on the A6000!!!

The a6000 is simply a terrific performer for sports. The fact is M4/3 cameras in general, and specifically Oly, which make great cameras also, cannot compete with the a6000 for AF tracking which is critical for sports shooting.
In my opinion, Sony has the broadest range of options which actually perform better. If I were looking for a top performer for video, would be looking at a Panasonic, for image only, maybe a Fuji. My point is, I think every manufacturer has something that sets a particular model apart from the competition, but currently, I think Sony is cutting the widest swath in the industry. In any case, it is a very exciting time for photographers with so much to choose from.

Please tell us what live composite is, so we will know what we are missing.

I think it's a reference to the "live bulb" feature — see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz4g-MFW_t8 for a video demo. It's pretty neat if you're doing light painting or similar, as you can actually see the exposure on the LCD screen as it "develops".

If this is something you do a lot, clearly a deciding feature. If it's not your interest, well, not so interesting.

Live bulb is different. Composite does not overexpose...watch the video I posted.
