I received an e-mail this morning offering a free maintenance service on my DSLR.

I am just wondering whether all Nikon users have had this same offer.

Just one problem: How can I part with my camera?

Have you contacted Nikon? I have never heard of such a thing as free maintenance on a Nikon camera and I have used Nikon cameras and lenses for more than 50 years.

I just took a look at their US website and there was nothing like this under "Service Advisories".

I have a D710 that I purchased as a refurb from Cameta.

No, I have not at this time, but I do believe that the e-mail is legitimate.

This is the first time for me also. I bought my first Nikon (FM) in April of 1980 and I still have it,

What makes you believe that the e-mail is legitimate?

Some people believe the Earth is flat or in honest politicians! :D

The only legitimate EMail one is likely to get will come from your kids and chances are they are trying to scam you also.

I don't think there is or was a Nikon D710. Did you mean a Nikon D7100?

I did call Nikon support and the offer is legitimate. I did not ask about the scope of the program so I can't tell you if you will receive the same offer, but I hope that you do.

Thanks for being diligent and confirming! Kudos. There are so many scams around these days.

I would be very happy to get that genuine e-mail from Nikon, err for my Canon cameras!

Take care, and good luck!
