Cinnabar Moth Caterpillar.

This moth changes into a beautiful black and red moth. The caterpillar feeds almost exclusively on Ragwort, the yellow poisonous plant common in meadows but it does sometimes feed on groundsel. The poison stores in their bodies and tastes horrible to birds that ignore their warning colours. The caterpillars overwinter as pupae in the ground.

Normally I prefer the high magnification shots but must say the 4 cat feast is my favorite of the two. Nicely done Brenda...
